Sleepless Night!

I am writing this post at 2 in the morning. I have been twisting and turning on bed trying to get some sleep since 10 pm. Fed up I get up. For the past five hours so many thoughts have crossed my mind. So many thoughts that I can make into blog posts. Since I know that I will forget and lose interest in making posts out of those thoughts, I thought of doing it now itself. (Remember the Hindi quote :  Kal kare so aaj kar, aaj kare so ab.?)

I know that there are several young fellows like me who spend sleepless nights. Some might have troubling thoughts like a not working out relationship, or unachieved targets. But reason for me not getting enough sleep is lack of tiredness.

Tired?

Tired?

You now might be thinking of asking me, “You like being tired?“. Of course I do. But conditions apply! I should be let to sleep, whatever be my condition. It doesn’t matter if I have been beaten black and blue in a fight, or had an abhishekam with Pepsi, Fanta and Sprite at a party. And you need to get tired so that you use up those stored enery (J) and calories.

At college I used to come back to my room only by 10 or 12 at night, or sometimes would spend my time at the computer center itself. And usually I would have roamed around by bike (search in google for ‘pictures for bike’ you will understand which ‘bike’ I am talking about :D ) or by walk from class to room (to change) to gym to library to temple to restaurant to computer center and back to room. By that time, I would be dead tired. Only sleep matters then and I enjoy deep sleep, within microseconds of my butt touching the bed.

Let’s talk about today then. Usually its the summer holidays when you find loads of time to hang out and get tired to the core. But I am now at my native place and spending my time more on games, internet and movies. Today, I mean yesterday, I didn’t step outside the house. That’s kinda crazy for me. I at least go for a walk, even that didn’t happen. Only my eyes and mind turned sore after spending those long hours staring at the screen. I reluctantly switched it off at around 9 pm after a headache started splitting me apart. Dinner and Pill and then the rolling around in bed. Ahem! By pill I meant the Pain Killer pill for my headache.

A sound mind resides within a sound body. Similarly, a tired mind resides within a tired body. Ok, sue me or stone me later if you didn’t like the latter part, but that’s the truth. The truth from my perspective.

To avoid sleepless nights, the thing to do is to make your body tired. Body and mind are two different entities, interconnected in combinations you can’t sometimes imagine of. When the body gets tired because of quality work, then the mind too gets tired. God knows how many calculations it did for all the work you did! But the body doesn’t get tired, just by you straining your mind, say by spending the whole day solving the rubik’s cube or sudoku or watching movies on tv or computer.

There is more tech, more computer guys, more fatsos. Don’t join the league of fatsos and sleepless youths. Start working out, tire out. Push your body to your limits. Learn to enjoy the fruit and the hard work.
